Position: Service Specialist Intern

Position Summary

The Lesniak Institute for American Leadership, led by Senator Raymond Lesniak, is seeking a motivated Service Specialist Intern to join our dynamic team. The ideal candidate will have experience in event planning, networking, and proficiency in Google Suite. This role involves maintaining communication with local community and educational organizations, assisting in the planning and execution of events and service projects, and managing databases and email campaigns. This internship offers a valuable opportunity to gain hands-on experience in nonprofit management.

Qualifications/Skills

  • Currently pursuing a Bachelor’s Degree
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills, including professional emailing
  • Proficient in Google Suite
  • Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously
  • Knowledge of current events and politics is preferred but not mandatory

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Assist in planning and executing events and service projects
  • Develop and create advocacy training content
  • Assist the Executive Director with a variety of tasks, including research, writing, and project management
  • Prepare meeting minutes and agendas
  • Communicate with supporters and community leaders through various channels (e.g., phone, email, social media)

The ideal candidate will have a strong understanding of producing content, including skills in: post production video editing, pre-production tasks such as script writing and story boarding, and camera and lighting operation. This position will also require collaboration with the creative department during live events, including: media coverage, photography, and videography. This internship offers a valuable opportunity to gain experience in both online and in-person media work, especially within the nonprofit sector.

Qualifications/Skills

  • Currently pursuing or recently completed a Bachelor’s Degree in Film, Communications, Public Relations, Advertising, or Business Marketing.
  • Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously
  • Proficiency in using content creation tools (Canva, Adobe Suite, Capcut)
  • Camera & lighting operation
  • Photography & videography at live events
  • Experience developing online content (scriptwriting, editing, photography, and videography)
