OPERATION SANTA
The Lesniak Institute for American Leadership is proud to announce our 25th Annual Operation Santa. For many of these children, it’s the only gift they’ll receive this Christmas. Through this cherished tradition, we’ve supported nearly 500 families and provided over 1,000 gifts to deserving children across Union County.
Through the Operation Santa Initiative, the Lesniak Institute for American Leadership annually serves hundreds of deserving children and families recommended through Union County Social Services, the Coalition for the Homeless in Elizabeth, and other community partners.
Operation Santa is more than a toy drive, Operation Santa is a guarantee to the participating families that they are not alone during the holiday season. With the help from their community and generous donations, the Lesniak Institute has been able to give an unforgettable holiday experience for the families involved.
Operation Santa goes beyond gift-giving, it is a multi-month initiative supported by three core programs
The Volunteer Wrapping Day
Students, volunteers, and young advocates come together to learn about Operation Santa, the Lesniak Institute, and the importance of giving back while helping prepare over 200 gifts for children.
The Community Advancement Seminar
The children always have fun, but what about our parents and guardians!? This program was created for parents & guardians of Operation Santa featuring workshops about financial education, housing resources, wellness information and other community resources to empower them with skills they can use well beyond the holiday.
The Operation Santa Celebration
Our families come together for a magical evening; children receive their presents from our team and Santa; and everyone enjoys a warm meal and exciting games with our volunteers.
