Katelyn Piorkowski

Community Outreach Coordinator


Katelyn is pursuing her Bachelor of Arts degree in Communication with a concentration in public relations and a minor in marketing while serving as the Community Outreach Coordinator at The Lesniak Institute for American Leadership. 

Katelyn has completed research for The Institute which was featured in Kean University’s Research Days. She has formed social diversity clubs which provided an environment for members to perform activities which positively impacted their community and hosted a multitude of events, including: Pay it Forward Movements, Informational Workshops, and Mental Health awareness events to give the outnumbered a platform to grow and be comfortable. 

Katelyn is a leader and wants to inspire people to make a difference for the things she is passionate about. She is a strong advocate for LGBTQ+ rights and social justice. She believes that education is a great equalizer and that everyone should have access to it in an environment that suits them.

She believes in the value of community and how small acts of kindness can have an impact. She is using her time with The Institute to help inspire New Jersey residents and students take action. She believes in the power of a constituent's voice and aspires to embolden others to find their voice. Katelyn hopes to spend her professional life advocating as a lobbyist.
